Il Calzaturificio
Elata nasce nel 1923 dall’esperienza e dall’intuizione
imprenditoriale di Salvatore Nicolazzo che, sebbene non si possa
definire il primo calzolaio in Casarano, di certo è il
primo imprenditore calzaturiero del basso Salento. Discende
da una famiglia di raffinati ed abili calzolai, risulta infatti,
che un suo avo, durante il periodo borbonico, ottenne una licenza
premio, avendo confezionato per la Regina un paio di scarpe
con la tomaia in un sol pezzo. La ditta nata come impresa individuale
diviene, alla morte del fondatore avvenuta nel 1959, una società
di fatto tra gli eredi e successivamente, nel 1979, una Società
a responsabilità limitata nel rispetto della compagine
familiare e con la graduale aggiunta delle nuove generazioni.
Nella Provincia di Lecce, l’industria calzaturiera rappresenta
oggi la più importante risorsa a livello occupazionale
e di mercato. In pochi decenni, il Salento, da completamente
agricolo, è divenuto il più grande bacino manifatturiero
della Puglia. La nostra filosofia aziendale è tuttora
finalizzata alla produzione di calzature femminili di qualità,
da sempre realizzate con costante e scrupolosa cura artigianale
affiancata dall’utilizzo di tecnologie sempre attuali
ed aggiornate di continuo. |

Elata was established by Salvatore
Nicolazzo Sr. in 1923.
Nicolazzo was born in 1899, representing at that time, the 3rd
generation of Nicolazzo shoemakers (his grandfather is renown
for making a special pair of shoes for Queen Borbone of Naples).
After his years of study and training in the shoe industry of
northern Italy, Salvatore Nicolazzo Sr. founded Elata in 1923.
Business went so well that he built the first factory in Casarano
in 1931. Elata was the first shoe industry in the district and
became known as a school to the many new entrepreneurs.
After his death, in 1959, his sons developed the business expanding
to the whole of Italy and Europe. Supplying quality women’s
shoes became the leading product of Elata.
In 1980 the new factory began operating and in 1985 Elata started
the production of bridal shoes.
In 1990 the 5th generation of shoemakers came up and the business
became global.
In September 2007 a brand new multi million dollar, state of
the art factory was opened with Elata looking forward towards
the next 80 years of superior shoe making. |
